Born from a windswept coastal hike around Strumble Head Lighthouse back in April, Outpost was sparked by sea air, winding trails, rusted relics, and a forgotten observation post overlooking the ocean. The result? Gear inspired by adventure, discovery, and the call of the coast.
In development since spring, this launch has been months in the making, from sourcing the perfect webbing and crafting a cohesive range, to endless rounds of testing (and then testing again). Add in photoshoots, product tweaks, and all the behind the scenes magic that happens here at HQ, and you can imagine how excited we are to finally share Outpost with you.
Every story begins with curiosity. Ours started on the trail, led by our dog, fuelled by discovery, and inspired by the places we found along the way. Outpost carries that same spirit forward: born from our story, but ready to be rewritten through yours.
What’s in a Name: The Story of a Coastal Hike and Unexpected Discoveries
On 19th April 2025, we set off on a circular hike around Strumble Head Lighthouse, a spot we’d visited before, but never properly explored. As always, we packed our hiking kit (and a few prototypes to photograph), including a collar we’d been quietly developing in the background.
Along the cliffs, we passed old wartime buildings, a rusty US mailbox, and finally stumbled upon a redundant WWII observation post, now used for bird and ocean watching. Somewhere between the ruins and the sea air, the name came to us... Outpost.
The word echoed the spirit of that hike: exploration, discovery, and the quiet beauty found in forgotten places. Even the collar itself, with its grid lines and subtle markings, seemed to reflect that same idea, reminiscent of map lines, coordinates, and the simple act of finding your way.
By the time we looped back to the start, the name had settled in our minds as firmly as the lighthouse on the horizon. The name we’d been searching for had found us instead.
