Following three incredible years of Ffwng, our fungi inspired photo challenge is back for its fourth edition, and we can't wait to see what you discover.

From tiny mushrooms hiding beneath fallen leaves to curious fungi growing along your favourite woodland trails, Ffwng is all about getting outside, slowing down and taking notice of the little things.

Every year, our community amazes us with the creativity, curiosity and sheer beauty of the photographs submitted. Whether you're a seasoned photographer or simply enjoy snapping a few photos on your phone during a dog walk, Ffwng is for everyone.

The challenge begins on Wednesday 1st October and ends on Monday 30th November so plenty of time to get outside. So, grab your camera, pull on your wellies and get ready to go fungi hunting. Ffwng 4 is has begun!

Prizes

As always, there are a few little treats up for grabs.

The winning photographer will receive a £50 Discount Voucher to spend in our Wildbarc online store, a Wildbarc motel keyring, a sticker pack and the honour of having their photograph featured on the cover of the printed Ffwng 4 Zine in all it's mushy glory, along with a copy of the zine itself.

Photographers whose work is selected for inclusion in the zine will also receive a £10 Discount Voucher to spend in our online store and a copy of the finished zine.

But beyond the prizes, we hope Ffwng encourages you to spend a little more time outdoors, discover somewhere new and appreciate the wonderful world growing right beneath our feet and above our heads.

No fancy camera, expensive equipment or previous experience required. Just a little curiosity and a love of the outdoors.

Our Chosen Charity

This year, all profits from Ffwng 4 will be donated to Search and Rescue Dogs South Wales a dedicated 100% volunteer led team who work tirelessly to support search and rescue operations across South Wales.

Their highly trained dogs and handlers play an important role in helping locate missing and vulnerable people, often working in challenging conditions and difficult terrain when every moment matters.

It's a remarkable example of the bond between humans and dogs, and one that feels particularly close to home here at Wildbarc.

We're incredibly proud to support the work they do and hope this year's challenge can help raise a little awareness, as well as funds, for their continued efforts.

Every photograph submitted, every zine purchased and every little bit of support helps us give something back to a team doing such important work.

How to Enter

Taking part couldn't be easier. Simply head out, find some fungi and share your photographs with us on Instagram.

1. Post your fungi photographs to your Instagram grid and tag us in the photo @wildbarc
2. Use the hashtag #ffwng2026 in your post caption.
3. Keep a high resolution copy of your photograph handy in case it's selected for the zine.

We may also ask for a few extra details, such as the type of fungi, the month it was photographed and the location of your discovery.

Need to Knows

1. Submissions close on 30th November 2026.
2. All submissions must be posted to your Instagram Profile Grid and the photo tagged with @wildbarc to ensure we can find your entry. Also please use the hashtag #ffwng2026 in your caption.
3. If your Instagram account is private, we won't be able to see your entry.
4. All photographs must be portrait, not landscape.
5. Please ensure your images are high resolution and suitable for print.
6. All submissions must be your own original work.
7. By entering, you agree to Wildbarc sharing your photograph across our social media channels, always with credit to the photographer.
8. Winners will only be contacted by Wildbarc through our official Instagram account. Please don't share personal information with anyone claiming to represent us from another account. If you're unsure, contact us directly before responding.
9. This photo challenge is open to UK participants only.

Magazine Release Date

Once the challenge closes, we'll spend a little time going through all your wonderful submissions and selecting the photographs for Ffwng 4.

Photographers whose work is selected for the zine will be contacted a month after the challenge ends, with the finished zine planned for release in early 2027. This will give us time to select the featured photographers (this is not an easy task haha!).

All prizes will be sent to the winning entrants once the zine is ready to ship.

We can't wait to see what this year's challenge brings. From the tiniest woodland discoveries to the most unusual fungi hiding in plain sight, every photograph is a little reminder to slow down, get outside and appreciate the world around us.
